Date-first booking
Visitors pick a date, see which Sinterklaas teams still have slots that day and choose a time. Availability is live and double bookings are blocked by the database itself.
A new site and custom booking platform for a Sinterklaas entertainment company serving the Leiden region.

The client wanted a fresh public site, then asked whether the paid SimplyBook.me plugin could become a booking system of their own. The goal grew into one platform: online booking for home visits, plus the back office that runs the business, owned outright instead of rented.

Visitors pick a date, see which Sinterklaas teams still have slots that day and choose a time. Availability is live and double bookings are blocked by the database itself.

Each occasion, from home visits to town arrivals, has its own page with pricing facts, photos and structured data for search engines.
A day, week and month agenda with travel time between visits, a customer base, quotes and invoices as generated PDFs, and yearly mailings with one-click unsubscribe.
Confirmations with calendar invites, reminders and cancellation notices go out by themselves, from templates the owner edits in the admin.

Regional pages with prices and FAQs, written after analysing the competitors that outranked the old site.
A static Astro front end on Netlify, with one Supabase edge function serving every API route and Postgres doing the real work: an exclusion constraint makes double bookings impossible even under concurrent requests. The booking flow was rebuilt date-first after real customers mistook one busy team for a fully booked day. The site ships almost no JavaScript, scores 96 to 98 on Lighthouse performance, sets no cookies, and counts visitors with a cookie-free tracker.
Bookings for the new season opened on the platform and ran from day one. The owner now plans, quotes, invoices and mails from a single screen, and the monthly booking plugin fee is gone.
